Julie Sabey is a child of Canada. Flying over much of it with her pilot father, she spent her childhood being shaped by the natural brilliance of the Northwest Territories and the cold lakes and warm sunshine of Manitoba. During her formative years, she was exposed to the arts and culture scenes in Winnipeg and Vancouver. Her professional life as a writer and director meant her award-winning videos and campaigns were produced and viewed on screens. During the pandemic, she finally began to make things she could hold in her hands.
Personal and global uncertainty inspires her to explore a variety of genres and mediums, allowing her work to resonate with myriad audiences. Since 2023, she’s hosted a deeply personal solo show and shown side-by-side with talented West Coast artists in Vancouver and on Vancouver Island. Julie lives and works in Cumberland, BC, where she actively donates her art to help raise funds for causes close to her heart.
Julie is grateful and honoured to live and work on the land that is the unceded and ancestral territory of the K'omoks First Nation, the traditional keepers of this land.
